Generally, when the students plan to pursue B.Com (Bachelors in Commerce) they always have a query- what is the difference between B.com (Hons) & B.com (Pass) courses? Why the cut-off for B.com (Hons) is higher than the B.com (Pass) even though the syllabus of both courses is same?

B.Com (Hons)

B.com (Hons) is an undergraduate degree course and it is designed to build the ability of students & also to analyse the things in a rational manner which is important for the business administration. Students have an option of applying for masters with the specialization in Accounts & Economics after graduation.

Eligibility Criteria:  10+2 (Maths & English as Compulsory subjects).

Duration of Course: Three years with specialization in Accountancy & Economics.

Selection criteria: Selection shall be made on the basis of marks obtained in

10+2 (including one language and three best subjects; Mathematics is a compulsory subject).

Career Prospects:   

The Industry demand for the B.Com (Hons) program is much higher than the regular program B.Com (Pass). There is a wide scope in the field of commerce like-Banking Industry, Financing Firms, Auditing Department, Insurance sector, Wealth Management, Risk Management etc. as well as Students can pursue CA course along with B.com, after graduation students can go for Post graduation Course like- MBA or M.Com.

B.Com (Pass)

B.Com (Pass) is also an undergraduate course which is almost similar to the B.Com (H).  Actually, the difference between these courses is to specialize in a certain subject (Accounting & Economics) in B.Com (H) whereas in B.Com (Pass) gives an overview of those subjects taught in B.Com (H).

Eligibility Criteria: 10+2 equivalent.

Duration of Course: Three years without specialization.

Selection criteria: Selection shall be made on the basis of marks obtained in

10+2 (including one language and three best subjects).     

Career Prospects: The Job Opportunities are very less after B.Com (Pass). For good salary package you may pursue post graduation like MBA or M.Com, after that you can join any reputed organization as a Finance Manager, Financial Advisor of any firm and so many other options in the Corporate Sector.
